Crossing the oceans has been a human achievement for thousands of years, but how did those navigators find their way when there was no land, no mountains or familiar coastlines?
Today, we can traverse the world and accurately know where we are at any time of day or night
using satellite navigation systems. But that has only been in the last 40 years or so.
Find out how we can use the Sun, the Moon, planets, and stars to determine our location and get a glimpse into the ancient skills of navigation by the stars.
Join us at the Carterton Events Centre on Monday, 7 October, at 8:00 pm for a glimpse into the world of Celestial Navigation as presented by Commander David Hedgley, who brings almost 50 years of naval expertise.
Learning how to navigate by the stars is an essential skill – even with our modern navigation technology.
The presentation starts at 8:00 pm and finishes around 9:00 pm.
Tickets $10 per person
